How can Premortem Analysis, Key Assumptions Check, and Structured Self-Critique help me avoid critical mistakes?

Reframing Structured Analytic Techniques help analysts see their issue or critique their own work from new, alternative perspectives. This workshop leads participants through the application of three Reframing Techniques: the Key Assumptions Check, Premortem Analysis, and the Structured Self-Critique. Participants first conduct a Key Assumptions Check—a core technique used to identify and assess the key assumptions underlying judgments—on a sample analytic piece. They then perform Premortem Analysis and a Structured Self-Critique to determine how the judgments in the sample might be “spectacularly wrong.” These complementary techniques legitimize dissent, build a supportive environment for objective self-critique, and are an effective way to deal with the desire for consensus that causes poor group decision making.
